Lets Talk About The "Why"

I started WTCO for a few reasons. Brent and I want to live a freer lifestyle, part of that includes not slaving away for someone else, and making money for someone else while I get the measly table scraps that is my paycheck. It is the end goal that WTCO, and Brent’s freelance graphic design will support us financially so that we don’t have to live the daily grind of the 9-5.

Every time we go out to buy, we have an inside joke of “maybe we’ll find that thing we can’t live without.” Well, I did. It came in Barney, who is a yak constructed of goat hide, wood, and sawdust. There were other animals made, by whom I am not sure, but I’ve seen a lion from other folks. They were given away as carnival prizes around the early 1900’s.

Barney is NFS, not for sale, because I can’t like without him. What I’m getting at is when I saw Barney, there was a feeling. It was a feeling that I want others to feel also. I like the idea of putting things in others’ hands that they will love and appreciate. Just because something is old, doesn’t mean you should throw it away.

The antiques are part of our country’s history. I want to help preserve that history. I want them in the hands of people like myself, who love them just like they are. I’m looking at you chalk-painters. That’s a rant for another day. Yes, it will be a rant.

Anyway, theres a particular feeling when you find something that you didn’t know you needed. The hunt adds on to the thrill. When you go out and hunt for something, anything, wether that be a rock for your collection, new windows for your house, or an “I’ll know it when I see it” situation. When you find what you need, it’ll let you know. Make sure you read “Speaking the Language” from last week.

What I’m getting at is that there’s a feeling. Its a good feeling that makes me happy, and I want to pass that feeling on to you. Wether you buy something from the online shop, (www.wildernesstrading.co) from me in person, (coming soon) or from my booth, (also coming soon) I want you to feel that too.
